Hi! I’m Rox, and if you hear suspicious rustling in the library in the middle of the night, don’t worry – it’s just me, curled up in a corner, eyes bulging out of my sockets, devouring yet another horror book.

It may sound like I’m possessed by evil spirits, but that’s just a side-effect of my obsession with stories that give you the creeps. If you see a shadow moving among the shelves, rest assured, it’s probably me looking for my next dose of literary horror. So don’t worry, I’m no monster… at least not in this dimension.

Nothing compares to the feeling of burying myself in a book that gives me chills. It’s like stepping into another world, one full of shadows and mysteries that fascinate me. Stephen King, H.P. Lovecraft, and Shirley Jackson are a few of the authors who manage to keep me up at night, my eyes glued to the pages, unable to put the book down.

Although books are my greatest love, I admit that occasionally I also fall under the spell of horror movies. There’s something special about seeing these stories come to life on screen. Even if they rarely reach the level of detail and depth of books, movies add a visual dimension that sometimes perfectly complements the reading experience. More often than not, though, I think that my imagination, fueled by so many books, creates scenes far more intense than those on screen.

dreadfulshelf.com - about

I’m a slow reader and proud of it. I prefer to savor each sentence, stop and reflect on the scary details and let the tension build slowly. For me, reading is not a race, but an experience worth taking my time.

While I appreciate the beauty of a physical book, I’m a big fan of ebook reading. The convenience of having an entire library at my fingertips and the ability to read in the dark (perfect for the horror vibe) make me choose the digital format more often than not.

On dreadfulshelf.com, you’ll find first and foremost endless lists of horror book recommendations, from classics of the genre to lesser-known contemporary horror book authors. I love uncovering hidden treasures in the world of horror lit and sharing them with other enthusiasts.

I also like to share my thoughts about the books I read. As an avid but amateur reader, I frequently express my thoughts and feelings about my reading experiences. I analyze, from my subjective perspective, the elements that I believe make a horror book compelling. I like to talk about how I perceive character construction, atmosphere, narrative twists, and all those little details that creep me out. It’s important to note that these are strictly my personal opinions based on my unique tastes and experiences. I don’t present them as absolute truths or professional reviews but as honest reflections of a horror lover who wants to share his passion with others.

Although horror remains the main focus, I sometimes make forays into other related genres such as psychological thrillers or true crime books. After all, fear comes in many forms, doesn’t it?

If you are just as passionate about the dark world of horror lit, I invite you to browse dreadfulshelf.com. I’m always open to discovering new titles to keep me up at night and discussing them with other lovers of the genre. Happy horror! >:)
